Camí de les Valls Road Overhaul Completed with €532,000 from the Provincial Council
The Provincial Council of Valencia (Diputació de València) has finished a full overhaul of the Camí de les Valls, the rural road linking Sagunto with five neighbouring municipalities.
After months of works, the Camí de les Valls now has a fully resurfaced carriageway, updated road markings and a reinforced drainage system to manage flood risk. The project drew on a €532,000 investment (VAT included) from the Diputació de València's Territorial Road Improvement Programme, which has been active since 2020. Key changes include replacing conventional speed humps with lower-impact raised strips, renewing crash barriers and reflector posts along the entire route, and widening the hard shoulder. For the first time, the road also features a dedicated pilot signage scheme for cyclists, who make regular use of this corridor. The route connects the five settlements of the Mancomunitat de Pobles de les Valls — Benavites, Benifairó de los Valles, Faura, Quart de les Valls and Quartell — an area of around 9,400 residents whose economy revolves around citrus growing and associated processing. The next stretch scheduled for works under the same programme is the Camino Viejo de Teruel. Agriculture Councillor Ana María Quesada stressed the road's importance in knitting together the Camp de Morvedre district. Source: Ayuntamiento de Sagunto.
