Sagunto Tourism Excellence Awards 2026: applications open until 2 November
The Sagunto City Council's tourism department has opened applications for the 4th Tourism Excellence Awards, with five categories and a deadline of 2 November.
Restaurants and bars, accommodation, bakeries and pastry shops, wineries, shops and leisure companies in Sagunto can now apply for the 4th Tourism Excellence Awards. The deadline is 2 November. The rules and the application form are on the tourism website, saguntoturismo.com, and questions can go to [email protected] or phone 674024765.
There are five categories: Track record, Innovation and digitalisation, Inclusive and accessible tourism, Sustainability and SICTED. Each business can apply for one or two at most. Last edition's winners cannot enter the category in which they were honoured, but can apply for the others.
SICTED is the Integrated Quality System for Tourist Destinations. According to the City Council in 2018, Sagunto then had 62 awards under this system, 23 new and 39 renewed. The SICTED category therefore rewards businesses that already work with a recognised quality label.
The jury will include representatives of cultural, commercial and business associations in the district, together with Turisme Comunitat Valenciana (the Valencian tourism agency), the Valencia Chamber of Commerce and Sagunto City Council. It will weigh how distinctive the initiative is and its contribution to spreading visits beyond the high season. It will also consider media coverage and the promotion of Sagunto's tourism brand, work in defence of promotion, innovation, modernisation or better quality and sustainability in the sector, and a commitment to quality shown by an award in a quality system.
The tourism councillor, Natalia Antonino, encourages the sector to apply and stresses that many very good tourism businesses work in Sagunto.
The call follows three earlier editions. The 3rd gala was held on 20 November 2025 at the Nave de Efectos y Recambios in Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district), and five businesses received an award, one per category: Horno La Victoria, Restaurante Valentín, Bar Jamón Jamón, Hotel Sagunto and Heladería El Paseo. The jury that year included the tourism councillor and representatives of ACPS (traders and professionals of Puerto de Sagunto), ACEISYC, ACCS, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, ADETURSA, ASECAM, Comerciantes 9 d'Octubre and the Valencia Chamber of Commerce.
The 2nd edition, held on 4 December 2024, honoured Hornos Domingo (Track record), La Costanera (Inclusive and accessible tourism), Heladería El Paseo (Sustainability), Global Vacacional (Innovation) and the Chocomel pastry shop (SICTED), and gave a special mention to Bodega Mico.
According to elperiodic.com in November 2025, Sagunto has more than 800 shops, hotels and hospitality businesses, and the councillor argued then that tourism is also a way of showing who we are. Anyone who wants to apply this year has until 2 November, with a maximum of two categories per application.
