Noche en Vela Sagunto 2026 in Plaza Mayor: guided tours at 18:30 and fashion show at 20:30
Plaza Mayor in Sagunto hosts the 14th Noche en Vela this Friday, 16 October, with guided tours at 18:30 and a fashion show at 20:30. Local shops show their collections and, as a novelty, a model with a disability walks the runway.
Anyone who wants to see this year's Noche en Vela (a candlelit fashion night for local shops) has two fixed appointments. At 18:30 the guided tours of the old town leave from the door of the Sagunto town hall, and at 20:30, with the candles already lit, the show starts in Plaza Mayor (the main square).
It is organised by the Asociación de Comerciantes Ciudad de Sagunto (the city's traders' association), and this is its 14th edition. The idea is to let the public see the city's small shops up close: each participating business shows its collections and trends on an open-air catwalk in the heart of the historic centre, under the light of thousands of candles.
The novelty of 2026 is a model with a disability, who will present the proposals of one of the shops. The available information does not say which one. The association wants her presence to give visibility to diversity and to show that fashion is a space open to everyone.
The show will open with a surprise performance. The organisers have decided not to reveal anything about its content.
The association's president, Lola Torrente, invites residents and visitors to come and promises a night in which local commerce, fashion and inclusion take centre stage.
The 2024 edition, as valencianews.es reported in October of that year, turned the street into a catwalk lit by 3,000 candles. The event is organised with the city's Department of Commerce and Markets, and at that time it coincided with the Institutional Day of Local Commerce and the 12th International Congress of Historic Centres (COCAHI). The programme began at 19:00 in Plaza Mayor with guided tours; this year the route leaves the town hall at 18:30 and the show does not start until 20:30. On that occasion Torrente argued for a lively, active city rather than a dormitory town.
The practical part for residents: anyone who wants to join the tour should be at the town hall door before 18:30, and anyone who prefers only the show should be in Plaza Mayor at 20:30. According to El Periódico de Aquí, with data from valencianews.es on the 2024 edition.
