Regional minister José Díez has highlighted the role of the Sagunto Intermodal Platform in Valencian logistics at an event hosted by Propeller Valencia.

José Díez, second vice-president and conseller (regional minister) of Presidency, spoke at a lunch-colloquium convened by Propeller Valencia. There he highlighted the role the Sagunto Intermodal Platform plays in the industrial and logistics development of the Valencian Community. The note published about the event is short: it reports that assessment, but gives no figures, deadlines or specific announcements from the conseller.

To see what infrastructure is at stake, it helps to look at what valenciaplaza.com published in March 2024, when construction began. It reported a cost of 98.1 million euros, funded by the Generalitat (the Valencian regional government). The site covers a plot of 688,000 square metres, or 68.8 hectares, and a two-year construction period was planned. According to the same report, the platform is meant to channel freight towards the Mediterranean Corridor.

What remains unclear is where the works stand against that two-year timetable, which the information about the lunch does not address. For residents of Sagunto and the Camp de Morvedre district, that is the practical point in the short term: when the project moves from funded works to infrastructure in operation.

According to elperiodic.com, with additional data from valenciaplaza.com on the project.
