Camp de Morvedre wrestling club adds another historic season in 2026
Sagunto City Council welcomed the club's athletes after a season with Spanish championship titles in sambo, Olympic wrestling, beach wrestling and MMA.
Five Spanish championship titles, a good haul of silver and bronze medals, and two team runner-up finishes: that is how the Club de Lluita Camp de Morvedre sums up its 2026 season, one of the best in its 75-year history. Sagunto City Council welcomed the club's athletes, coaches, board and families to honour these results. Among the individual titles are those of Gor Zograbian, senior sambo and combat sambo champion; Pau Gimeno, champion in U20, university and senior women's wrestling; Alan Ferrera, U20 Olympic freestyle wrestling champion; and Micaela Aránguiz, U13 champion, plus several wins at the Spanish Youth MMA Cup. The list of silvers and bronzes — including Ainhoa Gimeno, Víctor Ortiz and Sergei Zograbian, among others — is rounded off by two national team runner-up finishes, in U17 women's Olympic wrestling and men's senior beach sambo. Sambo, one of the club's disciplines, is a combat sport from the former Soviet Union combining judo, boxing and traditional wrestling; it is not an Olympic discipline. Mayor Darío Moreno described the club as a sporting role model, while its president, Juan Carlos Morte, called the season excellent.
