Con otra mirada charity run 2026 in Sagunto: 5K and 10K on 7 November
The Con otra mirada charity run starts on 7 November at 17:00 from Plaza Cronista Chabret in Sagunto. Each of its four beneficiaries receives 25% of the proceeds.
On Saturday 7 November 2026, at 17:00, Plaza Cronista Chabret in Sagunto will host the start of the 12th Con otra mirada charity run. It is organised by Grupo Espiga, a social volunteering association, with the collaboration of the council's Department of Physical Activity, Health and Sports. The presentation took place in the plenary hall of Sagunto City Council.
For anyone who lives in or moves around the town centre, the practical novelty is the 10K route. In earlier editions the final stretch went along calle Camí Real; this year runners will come down calle Mayor instead. Laura Losa, a volunteer with Grupo Espiga, explained that this means a main road such as Camí Real does not have to be closed, and that participants run along one of the city's most emblematic streets.
The programme includes two sports races, of 5 and 10 kilometres, and a collaborative option called Fila Cero.
The proceeds are split into four equal parts of 25% each: the Christmas Solidarity Toys Campaign, Cáritas of the parish of Santa María (the church charity), the Asociación Casa Nueva de Sagunto, and the training of volunteers at Grupo Espiga itself. Put differently, for every 100 euros of profit, 25 go to each of those four beneficiaries.
Prizes are awarded only in the 10K race. They go by category: Promesas (ages 14 to 23), Sénior (24 to 35) and Veteranos (over 35). On top of these come the first three men, the first three women and the first three clubs in the overall classification.
The councillor for Physical Activity, Health and Sports, Javier Timón, stressed that the council and Grupo Espiga share the aim of promoting physical activity as a route to health and to an active population. He congratulated the association on its work and noted that the split into quarters means many groups benefit. He added that the people of Sagunto get involved in every solidarity initiative put to them.
For her part, Losa thanked the council, local shops and residents for their support. According to the association, the project aims to bring the social volunteering programmes of Grupo Espiga closer to the people of Sagunto and the surrounding area. The financial donation is built into the registration fee, and anyone who wishes can also take an active part in those programmes.
