Sagunto cultural agenda, 3 to 8 November 2026: two exhibitions, Misery and two concerts

Two exhibitions, the play Misery on Friday 6 November and two 7-euro concerts on 7 and 8 November make up Sagunto's municipal cultural agenda.

Five events from the Culture Department of Sagunto City Council fill the week of 3 to 8 November: two exhibitions opening on Tuesday and Wednesday, a play on Friday and two concerts over the weekend. The concerts require tickets, 7 euros each, sold on the Servientradas website. Everything takes place at two municipal venues, the Centro Cultural Mario Monreal (municipal cultural centre) and the Casa Municipal de Cultura (municipal arts house).

The first to open is Solastalgia, by Sarah Taylor, with an opening on Tuesday 3 November at 19:00 at the Centro Cultural Mario Monreal. It gathers work in oil and mixed media on canvas and can be seen until 28 November, so anyone who misses the opening has almost four weeks.

The next day, Wednesday 4 November, also at 19:00, the Casa Municipal de Cultura opens Arte y diversidad, the show by the association Discamp Morvedre with work by its group of people with functional diversity. The exhibition is part of the events marking the association's 20th anniversary and runs from 4 to 27 November.

On Friday 6 November at 20:30, Misery takes the stage at the Casa Municipal de Cultura, a 95-minute tragedy performed by the company Saga Teatre. It adapts the Stephen King novel: Paul Sheldon, a successful writer, has a car accident during a snowfall and wakes up in the home of Annie Wilkes, the woman who rescued him. She is a nurse, takes charge of his recovery and declares herself the biggest fan of Misery Chastain, the novel series he writes. As the days pass, Paul begins to doubt that he is in good hands.

The performance is also part of the XVII Novembre Negre showcase (a programme built around noir cinema), organised by the Youth and Children's Department from 6 to 30 November. The programme adds up to ten feature films, two writing contests, a short-film contest, this play, an exhibition and a gastronomic dinner; the film screenings are free.

On Saturday 7 November at 20:00 it is the turn of music at the Centro Cultural Mario Monreal with El so de la terra, by Amores Grup de Percussió, a 70-minute concert of contemporary percussion. The programme covers works by Albéniz, Piazzolla, Chapí, Zivkovic and Peck, and some pieces draw on Spanish and Argentine music. The group aims to bring avant-garde music closer to the audience through compositions with a strong sonic and visual impact.

The week closes on Sunday 8 November, from 20:00, at the same Centro Cultural Mario Monreal, with Música latina by Doña Manteca, a one-hour concert. The Valencian trio is made up of Paula Almendros, Elena Almendros and Empar Mora, who reinterpret music of yesterday and today and swap instruments and roles during the live set, always keeping the three voices at the centre. The concert had been scheduled for Saturday 31 October and was postponed because of the official mourning for the railway accident in Urda (Toledo).
