Sagunto honours two Morvedre gymnasts for their national championship medals
Sagunto City Council held a ceremony for Claudia Guzmán and Xavi Requena, from the Morvedre Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, honouring their medals at the Spanish Championship in Guadalajara.
The ceremony, held in the council's plenary hall, was attended by mayor Darío Moreno, sports councillor Javier Timón, and club president Luís Marín. Guzmán, competing in the master category (for adult and veteran gymnasts), won gold in hoop and silver in both ball and the overall ranking; she also won the Spanish Team Championship with the Valencian Community squad. Requena took bronze in ribbon and fifth place in rope, competing in the infantil category, reserved for gymnasts aged 12 and 13 under Spain's official age-group system for rhythmic gymnastics. Timón noted both athletes had already been recognised by the council before, and Marín gave out club pins to those present. Guzmán credited years of top-level competition for the results, while Requena thanked his family and coach for their support.
