CD Acero renews midfielder Javi Martí for return to Tercera Federación

The 22-year-old midfielder, a key player in the Puerto de Sagunto club's promotion, will keep playing for the red-and-white team in the 2026-2027 season.

CD Acero has confirmed that midfielder Javi Martí will stay with the club for the 2026-2027 season. The 22-year-old played 29 matches last season, all as a starter — matching goalkeeper Charly's record — and scored three goals in the campaign that won the team promotion to Tercera Federación (Spain's fourth football tier).

Martí came through the youth ranks of Patacona and Levante UD before returning to Acero, where his composure in midfield made him one of the squad's most-used players during the promotion run.

The club's own name carries its history: founded in 1919 as Sporting Club, it was forced to drop the English word after a post-war law banned foreign terms in Spanish sports entities, becoming Club Deportivo Acero — the name it still carries. The return to Tercera comes thirty years after the club's best-ever league finish, a runner-up spot in the 1995-96 season.

The renewal comes as the team, based at El Fornás stadium in Puerto de Sagunto, prepares for its first pre-season friendly against Atlético Levante this Friday at 19:30 at the Ciudad Deportiva sports complex in Buñol. According to Golsmedia, with additional background from Wikipedia.
