Sixteen people have started a 30-hour logistics and warehouse course in Sagunto that ends on 16 October and prepares them for the professional forklift operator licence.

Sixteen people have started a course in logistics and warehouse operations within the Social Inclusion Itineraries project (Itinerarios de Inclusión Social) of the Social Services department of Sagunto City Council. The training is funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) programme for the Valencian Community 2021-2027.

The course totals 30 hours of theory and practice and ends on 16 October. Its aim is for participants to earn the professional forklift operator licence, a common requirement for warehouse work. The City Council describes it as training for a growing profession, and El Periódico de Aquí adds that it is a sector with demand for workers.

The programme covers storage, supply, receiving, preparing and dispatching goods. Participants will learn to operate forklifts and other handling equipment safely, as well as pallet trucks, stackers and other lifting, storing and transport equipment.

The Social Services councillor, Nuria Carbó, sums up the course as a commitment to training, autonomy and the social and work inclusion of the people taking part.

This course is only one part of the project. Social Inclusion Itineraries combines vocational training with measures to help participants enter the job market. On 28 September 2026 another course from the same programme began, on cleaning of open spaces and industrial facilities, with 15 participants, 240 hours of theory and practice and a Level 1 Professional Certificate. The comparison is useful: the logistics course lasts 30 hours, against 240 for that one, because its goal is one specific credential, the forklift licence.

In May 2026 the same programme launched the workshop «Caminem cap a l'ocupació» (Let's walk towards employment), for 20 people in two editions, covering communication skills, conflict resolution and interview preparation, also funded by the ESF+. So the project offers everything from personal and social skills to technical training for specific jobs.

The City Council's note does not say how participants were selected or whether there will be new editions, so anyone interested should ask Social Services directly.
