Almardà playground reopens after €64,569 renovation
Residents of Almardà, a coastal district of Sagunto, are now enjoying a renovated play area on Calle Neptuno — the project they themselves chose through the 2026 Participatory Budget.
It was residents themselves who, through the 2026 Participatory Budget process, chose to prioritise this renovation over other proposals for the municipality. The result, now visible on Calle Neptuno, is a playground designed so that no child or person with reduced mobility is left out: a step-free path now links the pavement to the play area, and the ground has been covered with rubber material that cushions falls. The play equipment, swings and slides have also been completely replaced, giving the space a modern look after years of wear. Sagunto City Council spent €64,569, VAT included, on the work, which joins other projects born from the same participatory process in different parts of the municipality. For the coastal community of Almardà, the reopening means getting back a neighbourhood meeting point that had long needed improvement, now with accessibility and safety guarantees it lacked before.
