Heat grips the Valencian Community with highs near 40°C and storm risk
Aemet, Spain's weather agency, has heat and storm warnings active across the Valencian Community, with inland highs close to 40°C; Camp de Morvedre, on Valencia's northern coast, feels the heat too, even though it falls outside the orange alert.
The Valencian Community is getting no relief from the heat: temperatures are set to brush 40°C again this Monday and Tuesday in inland areas of Valencia and Alicante provinces, and Aemet (Spain's national weather agency) is not ruling out afternoon storms with hail and strong gusts.
The highest alert level, orange, covers inland northern Valencia province and the southern Alicante coast, with highs that could reach 39°C; it runs from midday until 9pm. Alongside it, a yellow warning — 36 to 38°C — remains in place across large parts of both provinces, plus a separate yellow warning for storm risk in inland southern Valencia.
Camp de Morvedre, on Valencia's northern coast, falls outside the orange alert, though it is not spared the muggy conditions: low clouds are expected at dawn, with a humid, sticky feel continuing into Tuesday. Winds will be light and shifting, turning easterly by midday — southwesterly inland in the north — with gusts that could pick up if storms develop.
