Sagunto unveils its full 2026 patron saint festivities programme
Sagunto's festivities, honouring saints Abdón and Senén, run from 18 to 30 July, while Puerto de Sagunto's celebrations take place from 1 to 15 August.
Sagunto is putting the final touches to nearly two weeks of patron saint festivities, from 18 to 30 July, honouring saints Abdón and Senén; Puerto de Sagunto will hold its own celebration, dedicated to the Virgin of Begoña, from 1 to 15 August. The full calendar was unveiled on Monday with mayor Darío Moreno, festivities councillor Patricia Sánchez, and representatives of both peñas (festival club) federations.
There will already be activity before the official start: on 16 July there's a communal dinner for Día del Mayor (Elders' Day), and on the 17th scarves are handed to the city's 86 peñas and the opening speech is read, while the bull-running season also begins, with night runs and an embolador (bull-horn) exhibition. Also returning, after a years-long gap, is the peñas' procession to the fairground.
Among the best-attended events are the paella competition, the costume parade and, on the music side, an Amaral tribute and several live orchestras. The festivities close with fireworks on the day of the patron saints, venerated for centuries across the Valencian Community as protectors of the harvest against hail. Puerto de Sagunto's August programme will be announced later.
