Sagunto City Council is organising talks, a free giveaway of certified eclipse glasses and a celebration at the Pantalán in Puerto de Sagunto to mark the solar eclipse on 12 August.

The eclipse, which will cross Spain from west to east, will also be visible from Sagunto, the city's Science, Innovation and Universities department has announced. The programme includes a talk on the history and science of eclipses, plus safety advice for watching it without risk. The department will hand out 11,000 free certified glasses through the local peñas (social club) federations, shops registered with the FACOSA business association, the tourist offices, the Campus Delfín youth centre, the Escola d'Estiu summer school, the Sagunto (29 July) and Puerto de Sagunto (6 August) markets, and the seafront promenade on 8 August. On the afternoon of 12 August, the council will hold a celebration at the Pantalán pier in Puerto de Sagunto, with a science exhibition and public activities. According to municipal forecasts, the partial phase will begin around 19:38, with the roughly 1-minute-18-second totality phase around 20:32. This will be the first total solar eclipse visible from mainland Spain since 30 June 1973, and its path of totality will cross the country between Asturias and Castellón, affecting more than twenty provincial capitals. According to Sagunto City Council.
