Sagunto teen Luz Antonino, 14, leads Spain's trial motorcycling championship
Luz Antonino, a 14-year-old rider from Sagunto, took the lead in the Spanish Women's Trial Championship (TR2) after winning both races held the weekend of 4-5 July in León.
Sagunto City Council, through its Physical Activity, Health and Sports department, welcomed the young athlete to recognise her progress in women's trial riding. Antonino has had an almost perfect start to the season and is now one of the main contenders for the national title, decided across eight races held in different Spanish towns.
In trial, a motorcycling discipline where balance and precision matter more than speed, riders must clear natural and artificial obstacles without putting their feet on the ground. Mayor Darío Moreno called the rider an ambassador for the city and praised her competitive maturity despite her young age.
Antonino's rise has been building for a while: in January 2025 she was already Spain's runner-up in Abrera (Barcelona), and in June that year she won bronze in Sant Julià de Lòria (Andorra). That upward trajectory now strengthens her bid for the 2026 title.
