Atlético Saguntino 3-2 CD Utiel: home win at Nou Camp de Morvedre lifts team to seventh
Atlético Saguntino came from behind to beat CD Utiel 3-2 at Nou Camp de Morvedre, its first win since the opening matchday, and is seventh in Group VI of Tercera Federación with seven points.
Atlético Saguntino won again in Group VI of the Tercera Federación (fifth tier of Spanish football) after coming back from 0-1 to beat CD Utiel 3-2 at Nou Camp de Morvedre. It was the first win for Guillem Beltrán's side since the opening matchday: the team now has seven points from five games, with two wins, one draw and two defeats, and sits seventh.
The match started badly. Mario Genovés put Utiel ahead in the 29th minute, but Kike Torrent equalised ten minutes later, in the 39th, and Sergio Martínez turned the score around before half-time. Martínez himself made it 3-1 in the 59th minute, and Genovés, with his second goal, pulled one back in the 69th to set the final 3-2.
Juanmi Palao, the assistant coach, praised above all the team's reaction. He said the group recovered from the opponent's first goal and, after the blow, stuck to the plan and to what it had been doing. According to Palao, the equaliser came after several chances created around the box, and the team made the most of that momentum to go ahead quickly. For him, it is a win that strengthens the whole group.
The second half had its moments of suffering. At 3-1, Genovés's second goal put Utiel back in the game, and Palao admitted that doubts could appear after several matchdays without a win. He highlighted the contribution of the players who came on from the bench to hold the team together in the final stretch.
The assistant coach wanted to put the spotlight on the fans, after a win the team had been chasing at home for several weeks. He recalled that the crowd kept cheering when Saguntino was behind and also when Utiel got back to 3-2. For Palao, that relationship between fans, stadium and team should be one of Saguntino's strengths this season: what was seen in the match, a union.
For Utiel, still without a win, the defeat leaves them 17th with three points.
