Sagunto's Local Police will give out free identification wristbands for children and elderly people at the town's beaches, showing a name and contact phone number in case someone gets lost.

Sagunto's Local Police will hand out 10,000 free anti-loss wristbands for children and elderly people who may become disoriented on the town's beaches. Each wristband carries the wearer's name and a contact phone number, so anyone can alert the family if the person gets lost. The scheme starts with summer, when beaches fill up with more people, including many families with young children, and it was designed especially for older people with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia, a group for whom getting disoriented in public, even in familiar surroundings, is a common symptom. The City Council plans to keep using the same system during the patron saint festivities (fiestas patronales), when streets get crowded during the busiest events; it has already agreed with the local peñas (festive associations) federations to hand out wristbands at the most crowded events on the festival programme. The Local Police councillor, María José Carrera, describes the initiative as a way to look after the most vulnerable groups without taking away from summer fun. The wristbands will be available at accessible points on the beaches. According to Sagunto City Council.
