Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district) will host the ninth edition of Fem(me) Dansa from 24 to 26 July, a free contemporary dance festival at Plaza de la Concordia with eight professional companies.

Puerto de Sagunto will once again turn into an open-air stage for dance: eight professional companies will perform at Plaza de la Concordia between 24 and 26 July, all with free entry and no booking needed. Behind the festival are the Equality Department (Concejalía de Igualdad) and local choreographer Ana Lola Cosín Torada, with a double goal: bringing contemporary dance closer to residents and giving visibility to women as creators and performers. Friday opens with the pieces Eva, Carne de bronce and Triade, following a showcase from the workshop Vaja dona!... Balla!, led by Juana Varela. On Saturday, audiences follow a route starting by the sundial with Invisibles, continuing with two more works by companies from Valencia, Galicia and Madrid. Sunday closes with a pair of pieces about the body as memory: After the Drop and Llars invisibles, the latter about forced displacement. Ahead of the shows, twenty-five women have already signed up for a preparatory workshop, from 20 to 23 July. The festival is now in its ninth year since it began in 2018. According to Sagunto City Council.
