Valencian Community raises wildfire risk alert to level 3 until Thursday
The 112 Comunitat Valenciana emergency service has activated level 3 PREVIFOC, the highest wildfire danger level, in force until Thursday 9 July across the region, including Sierra Calderona.
The 112 Comunitat Valenciana emergency service has raised the forest-fire pre-emergency alert to level 3 PREVIFOC, the highest danger level. The measure stays in force until Thursday 9 July and covers forest land across the whole Comunitat Valenciana, including Sierra Calderona, the only one of the seventeen listed natural parks that lies within Sagunto's municipal area: declared a natural park in 2002, it protects 18,019 hectares spread across Camp de Morvedre, Alto Palancia and Camp de Turia. While level 3 is in effect it is forbidden to light any fire, walk on trails or cross open forest land, drive, cycle or walk on forest tracks, and to carry out building works or sports events in these areas or within 500 metres of them. Sagunto City Council also asks residents to take extra care with cigarette butts and matches, avoid dumping rubbish in vegetation, and stay out of the midday heat. Anyone who spots a fire should call 112. Source: Sagunto City Council.
