Sagunto to get its own adult-education school in the old town after works awarded

Sagunto's Local Government Board has awarded Veolia Servicios Lecam SAU the contract to adapt a building on Calle Liria to house the town's new adult-education (EPA) centre in the historic old town.

The building is an old two-storey property built in 1970, with just over 559 square metres of floor space, which had already had interior renovation work done in previous years. Now it is the turn of its facilities: the annex building's services will be separated from the main building, and both will be upgraded to meet current accessibility and fire-safety rules so the site can function as an adult classroom. The works, awarded for just over €334,000 including tax, will take four months: most of the spending, around €251,000, covers the first three months, while the final month absorbs the rest, close to €84,000. Councillor for Procurement Javier Raro said the project had been stalled for some time and that the local government had rescued and improved it, so that students no longer have to travel outside the old town to study — something that, until now, was only possible at the municipality's only such centre, located in Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district).
