Compromís (a Valencian left-wing coalition) unanimously elected Albert Oliver as local party secretary in Sagunto at its most recent assembly, replacing the previous leadership ahead of the 2027 municipal elections.

At a meeting held at the party's headquarters on Alorc street, the local branch of Compromís renewed its leadership with the unanimous backing of its members. Oliver takes charge at a moment of internal reorganisation, with plans to boost membership participation, update party structures and attract new affiliates.

The new secretary stressed his commitment to the progressive Valencianist values that have shaped the coalition's presence in the Camp de Morvedre comarca for over 40 years, placing loyalty to the Valencian people at the centre of his political agenda. Building up the party's internal structure before the 2027 municipal elections is listed among his main priorities.

In the 2023 local elections, Compromís secured 2 of the 25 seats on Sagunto City Council with 7.84% of the vote, ranking third alongside Vox and trailing the governing PSPV-PSOE (12 seats) and PP (5 seats). The leadership change signals the start of the party's preparation cycle for the next vote, according to elperiodicodeaqui.com.
