Two summer festivals fill Almenara's calendar — just south of Sagunto
Almenara, a Castellón municipality bordering Sagunto to the south, has unveiled a packed summer programme centred on two flagship events at Platja Casablanca beach.
For residents of Sagunto, Almenara offers a full festival option just a short drive south: this Castellón municipality — part of Plana Baja comarca, not Camp de Morvedre — runs a July-to-August calendar combining gourmet food, live music, water sports and traditional bullfighting culture.
The season opens 23–26 July with the Fira d'Estiu a la Mar – Gastrofira Gourmet Experience: four days of trade stands and tasting sessions, with a runway show by Chelo Agramunt on the evening of Saturday the 25th. The main block follows on 1–16 August with the Festes d'Estiu de la Platja Casablanca: evening concerts, afternoon beach parties, children's water attractions, toro embolado displays by Juan Faet and a fireworks send-off by Hermanos Caballer at the Gola de la Llosa on the night of the 16th. Sports highlights: the open-water Travesía a Nado on 9 August, the Volta a Peu walk and the Valhalla Kids obstacle race in July. The Nits a la Fresca cultural series covers a tribute to Camilo Sesto, a flamenco set by Lidón Patiño and a recital by local singer-songwriter Eva Gómez. A LGBTIQ+ Diversity Day takes place on 5 July. With around 6,800 inhabitants, Almenara's Platja Casablanca stretches some 4 km and adjoins the Els Estanys lagoons, a Natura 2000 site.
