Sagunto firefighters respond to road accident on the A-7 motorway
Firefighters from the Consorci Provincial de Bombers de València (Valencia Provincial Fire Service) attended a single-vehicle road accident at kilometre 294 of the A-7 motorway, within the municipality of Sagunto, on Sunday afternoon.
An alert reached the service at 15:50. On arrival, crews found the driver already standing clear of the vehicle — he had managed to get out unaided before help arrived. Firefighters wrapped him in a thermal blanket to shield him from the extreme heat and stayed on scene to assist the paramedic team that arrived shortly after. Before leaving, the crew also made the stricken vehicle safe to remove any residual danger. The Sagunto station sergeant led the response alongside several crew members.
The rapid arrival was no accident: the Sagunto unit belongs to the Consorci Provincial de Bombers de València, a service established in 1986 that covers 91% of Valencia province's municipalities — 243 of the 267 — with a workforce of around 1,200, making it the largest emergency consortium by staffing in Spain.
