Música al Port festival reaches its 18th edition with six free July concerts
Puerto de Sagunto's summer music festival offers six free shows between 4 and 25 July at the Centro Cívico Antiguo Sanatorio and, for the first time, at the courtyard of Colegio Begoña.
Now in its 18th edition, Música al Port brings together symphony, jazz, nostalgia and flamenco across three weeks in Puerto de Sagunto (the coastal district of Sagunto). The programme opens on 4 July with the Unión Musical Porteña wind band and dance school Aescena performing Una lámpara maravillosa. On 10 July the Lira Saguntina Symphony Orchestra presents a Bridgerton-themed evening. The 17 July session at the Colegio Begoña courtyard — a new venue this year — reunites local bands and soloists from the 1960s: Supermirafiori, Mars, Candy Vampires and La Fussión. The most nationally significant date is 18 July, when the festival hosts qualifying rounds for the 65th Festival Internacional Fundación Cante de las Minas, an internationally recognised flamenco competition held annually in La Unión, Murcia, with heats for singing, guitar and dance. The Mediterranean Jazz Orquestra closes the penultimate evening on 24 July with a Sinatra tribute, before Coro Almudáfer wraps up the programme on 25 July with Spanish pop-rock. All events are free and open to the public, according to Sagunto City Council.
