Sagunto launches seasonal beach police service until 6 September
Sagunto City Council has activated its seasonal Beach Police unit this Monday, deploying 11 officers across four beaches from 10:00 to 20:00 daily.
Four beaches along Sagunto's coastline — Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district), Almardà, Corinto and Malvarrosa — will have uninterrupted police coverage from 15 June to 6 September, every day from 10:00 to 20:00. The unit fields 11 officers: eight agents, two supervisors and one inspector, backed by five quad bikes, two off-road vehicles and a patrol boat. A permanent standby post will also be set up at Almardà beach.
Two peak dates will see reinforced shifts: on St John's Night (23 June) the shift extends to 04:00, and on 15 August — the main day of Puerto de Sagunto's patron saint festival — a special shift starts at 07:00. The unit operates alongside the lifeguard service for a coordinated response to any incident. Spain's Municipal Police force operates under Organic Law 2/1986, which defines it as the civil body responsible for enforcing local beach regulations. According to Sagunto City Council, the aim is to keep the coastline safe for residents and visitors throughout the summer.
