Al Crepuscle festival returns to Grau Vell fortress, 18–21 June
The fifth edition of the Al Crepuscle theatre festival will take place from 18 to 21 June at Sagunto's Grau Vell archaeological site, timed around the summer solstice twilight.
Sagunto City Council's Culture Department is closing its quarterly programme with three events this week, led by the Al Crepuscle festival. This year the festival returns to the Fortín del Grau Vell as its main stage: performances will run on 18, 19, 20 and 21 June at dusk — the days closest to the summer solstice, when the so-called «golden hour» of twilight light is longest and richest for outdoor theatre.
The Fortín del Grau Vell is a 15th-century coastal fortress restored and opened to the public in 2021. It forms part of the Grau Vell archaeological site — the ancient Roman port of Sagunto, with documented occupation from the 6th century BC, now listed as a Bien de Interés Cultural (national heritage asset).
On Tuesday 16 June, historian Juan Luis Arcón will lecture at the Centro Cultural Mario Monreal on 19th-century French maps of Sagunto Castle, linked to the city's ongoing bid for UNESCO World Heritage status. On Wednesday 17 June, the literary series Diàleg de Llibres presents Álvaro Paricio's book Vencer a Goliat at the Centro Cívico Antiguo Sanatorio in Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district) at 19:00.
