Canet d'en Berenguer renews triple beach quality award at Racó de Mar
Racó de Mar beach earns the Blue Flag for the 35th consecutive year and also renews the Q for Tourist Quality and the Qualitur seal for summer 2026.
Canet d'en Berenguer, a coastal municipality that shares its southern boundary with Sagunto within Camp de Morvedre comarca, takes home three simultaneous beach quality awards for summer 2026. The Blue Flag is awarded for the 35th uninterrupted year. The Q for Tourist Quality — granted by ICTES (Spanish Tourism Quality and Sustainability Institute) under the Ministry of Industry and Tourism — will be collected in Burriana next Monday. The Qualitur seal is awarded by Turisme Comunitat Valenciana to beaches that meet its criteria for quality, sustainability and accessibility.
The beach stretches 1,250 metres; lifeguard service is already running daily, and an accessible bathing point for visitors with reduced mobility will open next week. Mayor Pere Antoni highlighted an additional award: the Bon Govern prize from the FVMP, for a green-engineering project mapping the seabed to reduce coastal erosion.
The Blue Flag was created in France in 1985 by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE); Spain leads the global ranking with 638 certified beaches in 2024. According to elperiodicodeaqui.com.
