Sagunto council gives final approval to new urban bus fare structure
Sagunto City Council approved the fare ordinance for urban public transport on Thursday, setting the standard single ticket at €1.50.
Sagunto City Council gave final approval to the fare ordinance for urban passenger transport. PSOE, Compromís and EU-Unides Podem voted in favour, the PP against, and Iniciativa Porteña and Vox abstained. The standard single ticket is set at €1.50, with reductions for over-65s and large families. The headline new measure is the SUMA Violeta card — offering unlimited travel — available to people experiencing gender-based violence who meet the criteria of the Regional Equality Ministry; children under 8 continue to travel free. The existing multi-journey card is renamed SUMA 10, replacing the former Bono 10 Transport. All SUMA cards are valid across the EMT bus network, FGV tram and metro, Metrovalencia and Renfe Cercanías commuter rail, with free transfers within 60 minutes. The Autoritat de Transport Metropolità de València (ATMV), established under Law 13/2016, coordinates transport across around 60 municipalities with nearly 1,950,000 residents and launched the integrated SUMA fare system on 31 January 2022. According to Sagunto City Council, the new fares apply from the date of ordinance approval.
