Balonmano Morvedre ends season with survival secured in top-flight Liga Guerreras
Balonmano Morvedre finished their Liga Guerreras Iberdrola season with a defeat in Lanzarote against Zonzamas, but with top-flight survival already mathematically confirmed before the match.
Balonmano Morvedre closed out their Liga Guerreras Iberdrola campaign — Spain's top women's handball division — with a loss away to Zonzamas in Lanzarote. The Sagunto side dominated much of the match and built a five-goal lead at half-time. However, a 7-0 run by the home side after the break overturned the game, and Morvedre were unable to recover control of the scoreboard before the final whistle. Despite the defeat, the club ended the season with relegation already averted and highlighted the team's solidity, competitiveness and collective spirit throughout the year. Liga Guerreras Iberdrola is the top women's handball division in Spain, organised by the Royal Spanish Handball Federation and featuring 12 clubs; Balonmano Morvedre plays its home matches at the Pabellón René Marigil (René Marigil Sports Hall) in Sagunto, which holds 800 spectators. According to the club's Facebook page, securing survival allows the club to close the season calmly and focus on consolidating its sporting project for next year.
