Valencian Health authority tenders Sagunto Hospital's new ambulatory surgery unit for 6.1 million euros
The Regional Ministry of Health (Conselleria de Sanidad) has opened the tender for a new block at Sagunto Hospital dedicated to ambulatory surgery, with a 6.1-million-euro budget and a 15-month construction period.
The project covers 1,861 square metres of new space, two additional operating theatres, fourteen patient rooms and a four-bed post-anaesthesia recovery unit, all linked directly to the hospital's existing surgical block (elperiodic.com). Ambulatory surgery (Cirugía Mayor Ambulatoria) allows scheduled operations in which the patient is admitted and discharged on the same day with no overnight stay, with complication rates comparable to or lower than conventional inpatient surgery (Wikipedia). The investment expands the surgical capacity of Sagunto Hospital, the main healthcare facility for the Camp de Morvedre district, which has been in the public spotlight in recent years over caseload pressure and coordination with private clinics. The tender now opens the path to contract award and to works that should help cut surgical waiting lists in the area. According to elperiodic.com.
