Facosa commerce awards 2026 in Puerto de Sagunto: recognition for local commerce allies
Facosa presents its fifth awards for neighbourhood commerce on 21 October at the Centro Cívico in Puerto de Sagunto. Honours go to companies, schools, a newspaper, two organisations and one individual in six categories.
Facosa, the Federation of Commerce Associations of the Camp de Morvedre district, will hand out its fifth awards on Wednesday 21 October 2026 to companies, educational centres, a newspaper, two organisations and one person who have worked with neighbourhood shops. The ceremony takes place at the Centro Cívico (civic centre) in Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district), and the honours are split across six categories.
The common thread of this edition is the alliances between local commerce and other fields: industry, education, sport and the press. The federation wants to show how these collaborations help keep shops busy in Sagunto and across the rest of the district. The federation's president, Lola Torrente, will open the ceremony.
The category with the most winners is the one tied to the Christmas campaign 'En Navidad, Creamos Red', which aims to build bridges between neighbourhood commerce and other businesses in the area. The honoured firms are Interfax (represented by Fernando Villach and Carolina Pérez), Aesthetic Laser (Mar Gómez and Pilar Rico), Horno La Victoria (Gregorio Muñoz), AGC Flat Ibérica (Javier Cuenca), Masevalt, Openspace (Encarna Alacreu), Semancoin and Gasoprix.
Two schools in Puerto de Sagunto, CIPFP Eduardo Merello (vocational training centre) and CEIP La Laboral (primary school), will receive the Education Award for Commitment to Local Commerce. The federation values the way schools encourage responsible consumption and teach pupils early on why it pays to buy from shops in their own area.
The Award for Support of Local Commerce goes to José Luis Doblare, for a career in representing, training and assisting professionals in the sector. On the media side, the newspaper La Voz de tu Comarca, represented by Javier Large and Yolanda Portillo, receives the award for Commitment to Local Dissemination, for spreading word of the campaigns and activities run by the commercial community.
The Club de Judo Canet takes the recognition for Sporting and Commercial Impetus. Facosa honours it for taking part in the fairs the federation organises and for drawing families and visitors to those events. The sixth distinction, 'A Whole Lifetime with Neighbourhood Commerce', goes to the Club de la Vida: the federation stresses that its members stay loyal to local shops and have also taken up digital tools, which, in its view, shows that new ways of buying and traditional commerce can coexist.
Beyond the trophies, Facosa argues that shops serve a social function in the neighbourhoods and towns of the Camp de Morvedre district. According to the federation, neighbourhood commerce keeps streets active, creates jobs and strengthens ties between neighbours, although it must deal with digitalisation and changing consumer habits.
After the presentations, the gala will continue with a gathering of those attending, meant to let traders, companies, associations and institutions from the district swap experiences. According to El Periódico de Aquí.
