The 2025 budget was €99.9 million, about €2 million more than 2024, as valenciaplaza.com reported in October 2024. By our calculation, from €99.9 to €108.5 million is a difference of €8.6 million: 8.6% more in two years.
New this year, residents will be able to browse the accounts in a budget viewer on the council website, where the 2026 budget will also be available.

The Sociedad Anónima de Gestión (SAG), which handles street cleaning and urban hygiene, goes up to €23.5 million, 18% more than in 2026; that year the line was €19.8 million, 17% more than in 2025, according to the October 2025 public hearing. Public Space and Mobility will have €1,240,572 for clean transport alternatives, and urban development €1,072,000 for projects that had been left unfinished.
Weighing each line against the €108.5 million, the SAG alone takes 21.7% of the total, that is, €3.7 million more than its €19.8 million in 2026. Security represents 10.6% and Sports 8.9%. Added together, the SAG, Security and Social Services come to €43.6 million, or 40.2% of the budget. In absolute euros, Security's 21% rise equals about €2 million over 2026, Social Services' 10% about €780,000 and the 82% for Older People about €72,000, because that area started from about €87,600. These are our own calculations from the council's figures, not data supplied by the council.
Participatory budgeting will fund the five most voted projects: refreshing schools (€125,000), renovating playgrounds (€120,000), progressively adding climate control to public municipal schools (€125,000), renovating the playground on Avenida País Valencià (€8,000) and installing ping-pong tables (€10,000). More than 125 proposals were received and participation set a record, with more than 2,100 votes. The trend is clear: the first edition (2025 budget) had 250 proposals, more than 1,400 people voted and €500,000 went to the six most voted projects; in the 2026 cycle 75 proposals went to a vote, with more than 2,000 votes, and five were chosen, with €500,000. From the first edition to the current one, votes go from more than 1,400 to more than 2,100, an increase of around 50%, although the first figure counts people and the second votes. In October 2025, according to elperiodic.com, Compromís criticised that only 1.8% of the population entitled to vote had taken part; that is the view of an opposition group.
