Sagunto launches new round of 'Més que idees' for young creators
Sagunto City Council is accepting applications until 30 October for Més que idees 2027, a programme that provides spaces, technical guidance and exposure for people aged 12 to 30 with cultural or artistic projects.
For a teenager or young adult in Sagunto with a half-recorded demo, an unrehearsed play or a podcast that never quite gets off the ground, the lack of space and equipment is often the first hurdle. Sagunto's Youth and Childhood Department (Concejalía de Juventud e Infancia) is trying to fix exactly that with a new round of Més que idees ('More than ideas'), a support scheme for youth cultural creation now in its 2027 edition, open for applications until 30 October.
Residents aged between 12 and 30 can apply, either alone or as a group, and the level of the project — from a hobby to something with professional ambitions — is not a barrier to entry. The scheme runs along two complementary tracks. Anyone with nothing set up yet can apply to the Incubadora creativa ('creative incubator'), designed to start from zero: use of rehearsal or preparation rooms, technical advice, and access to artist residencies or spaces for audiovisual, theatre or podcast recording. Anyone who already has a project underway and just needs a stage can instead turn to Mostrart al Casal ('showcase it at the youth centre'), which offers live performances, meet-the-audience events, exhibitions, use of municipal spaces, a slot in the programme of the youth centres (casales), and technical support during the project itself.
The range of eligible disciplines is broad: music, dance, graphic design, urban art, theatre, social-media and multimedia content, or podcasts, among others. The one exception is purely exhibition-based projects, which are left out of this round because the department is preparing a separate grant line specifically for the municipal exhibition halls, due to launch in the coming months.
Beyond the one-off support itself, the real value of the scheme for families across the Camp de Morvedre district lies in access: rehearsal rooms, recording equipment or exhibition spaces that would be expensive to rent independently become available free of charge to those who sign up. In practice, it is a way for an artistic project to move out of a bedroom or garage and reach a real audience before its creators even consider going professional.
