Castellón-based street theatre company Visitants opens the 43rd Sagunt a Escena festival this Saturday, 1 August, with 'I si fem un clàssic?', a comic take on classic world theatre.

Street theatre company Visitants, from the Castellón area, opens the programme of the 43rd Sagunt a Escena festival this Saturday, 1 August, with 'I si fem un clàssic?' ('What if we did a classic?'), a comic take on well-known works of world theatre.

The festival, organised by the regional government through the Institut Valencià de Cultura (the Valencian public culture body), marked its 40th edition in 2023, which places its origins around 1983 — thirteen years before this 43rd edition. Beyond the opening street show, the summer programme mixes theatre, dance, classical music, flamenco, puppetry and circus, with the Teatre Romà de Sagunt (Sagunto's Roman theatre) as the main venue and free 'Off Romà' street performances around the city.

The Visitants show marks the start of several weeks of performances bringing the arts to different corners of Sagunto. According to elperiodic.com, with background from the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC), the Valencian public culture body.
