Generalitat puts €37 million contract for Sagunto's new courthouse out to tender

Valencia's regional Justice Department has opened bidding for the new courthouse in Sagunto, with a €37 million budget and a 28-month construction period.

The project, demanded by residents for years, moves forward after Sagunto's city council approved a motion two months ago urging the regional government (the Consell) to launch the tender without further delay. The new building will rise next to the L'Epicentre shopping centre, on land ceded by the city council, and will replace the current scattered courts with a single 14,352.72 square-metre building spanning a basement, ground floor and three upper floors.

The complex will be able to house up to 13 courts — ten operating from day one and three reserved for future growth — plus six hearing rooms, the Prosecutor's Office, the Civil Registry and the Office for Victim Assistance. According to the official notice from the regional Justice Department (Conselleria), the building will also include parking for 105 vehicles and up to ten judicial archives. The regional government links the new infrastructure to Sagunto's demographic and economic growth, driven by industrial projects such as the upcoming PowerCo battery gigafactory. After the tender, the next step will be awarding the construction contract. According to El Periódico de Aquí. Additional data: press release from the Conselleria de Justicia (Valencian regional government).
