Ice maker Iberhielo to build new factory in Parc Sagunt II for €7.1 million

The public company Espais Econòmics Empresarials (EEE) has sold a plot of almost 33,000 square metres in Parc Sagunt II, Sagunto's industrial park, to ice producer Iberhielo for €7.1 million to build a new ice factory.

The deal, approved by EEE's board on 6 July, formally awards the Resto-IN1-D2 subplot -32,690 square metres in the park's logistics area- to businessman Daniel Martinavarro through his company Sunaca Assets. The board also agreed to start the land registration process, a required step before the sale can be finalised, and to formally notify the company of the decision.

Iberhielo, which has more than thirty years of experience in the food sector and holds IFS Food quality certification, currently produces ice with a fully automated process at its factory in the Zamarra industrial estate in Aldaia (a town near Valencia): about 120 tonnes a day -roughly 30 million kilos a year- for restaurants, bars and large retailers. The new Sagunto plant will be the company's second factory in the Valencian Community.

The sale comes as Parc Sagunt II speeds up the marketing of its land next to the future PowerCo battery gigafactory and Inditex's logistics complex. The industrial park was originally planned, in the late 2000s, to become the largest in Europe, with almost 15 million square metres, but stayed largely empty for more than a decade after the 2007 economic crisis.
