À Punt TV to feature Benavites festivities on Friday's Terra de festes
The Valencian public TV show will air a report this Friday 10 July at 21:45 on the calderes stew, the xopà water fight, the barrel procession and costume parade that mark Benavites' patron-saint festivities.
The show 'Terra de festes' ('Land of Festivities'), hosted by Berta Báidez, will follow some of the most representative events in this Camp de Morvedre town alongside Benavites mayor Carlos Gil. The host will see how the calderes -- a traditional beef stew -- is prepared and will attend the blessing of the food before it is shared among residents and visitors. Reporter Ernesto Peretó will join the popular xopà, a street water fight, and cover the barrel procession, accompanied by the Telesio's Band, plus the traditional bathing at the llavador (village washhouse) and the costume parade that closes the day. These festivities are traditionally organised by the clavaris, young people from the town who turn 22 that year. The same episode will also visit the Sant Joan bonfire festivities in Alicante and the Sant Joan de Moró festivities in the Plana Alta area. À Punt and the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP) back the show to showcase Valencia's festive heritage. According to El Periódico de Aquí.
