Electronic music festival Blackworks in Sagunto is cancelled
Organisers of Blackworks Open Air Valencia, planned for 11-12 July in Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district), cancelled the event and promised automatic refunds for all tickets within 14 working days.
Organisers blamed the cancellation on the extreme heat recorded these days in the Valencian Community, saying safety concerns forced them to stop set-up work, and promised to look for a new date. The line-up included artists such as BIIA, Daria Kolosova, Dexphase, Skyption and Warface, among a dozen more names from the electronic music scene. However, Sagunto City Council said Local Police had already halted the construction work because the organising company, La Productiva Eventos, never obtained the required permit. The reserved site, the Nau de Tallers esplanade in Puerto de Sagunto, belongs to the regional Generalitat Valenciana government and sits within the protected area of Horno Alto n.º 2 (Blast Furnace 2), the old steelworks structure listed as a Cultural Heritage Site and one of the few surviving traces of Sagunto's steel industry. The regional culture department formally denied the permit on 4 May, weeks before the public cancellation announcement.
