The Ensemble Fandango quartet performs this Saturday in Faura's Plaça de l'Hostal, as part of the 18th 'Vicent Garcés' Valencian and Chamber Music Cycle.

Faura's Plaça de l'Hostal will host the second concert of the 18th 'Vicent Garcés' Valencian and Chamber Music Cycle this Saturday at 11pm, with free admission, featuring the Ensemble Fandango quartet. The programme, titled 'Danses d'Espanya: del fandango a la fantasia' ('Dances of Spain: from the fandango to the fantasy'), mixes classical and contemporary pieces inspired by Spanish tradition. Highlights include Enrique Granados's 'Four Spanish Dances' -part of a set of twelve piano pieces which, since their 1893 publication, earned the Catalan composer his first international recognition, praised at the time by musicians such as Fauré and Saint-Saëns- and Luigi Boccherini's 'Grave assai-Fandango'. Two contemporary works dedicated to the group itself complete the programme. The quartet is made up of flautist Eugenia Moliner, violinist Fernando Pascual, cellist José Enrique Bouché and guitarist Denis Azabagic, who have performed on stages in New York, Chicago, Beijing and Moscow. Faura's mayor, Consol Duran, praised the musicians' international standing and said the cycle has become a key cultural date for summer in Camp de Morvedre. According to El Periódico de Aquí.
