ASECAM Forum Puts Nature-Based Solutions at the Centre of Business Strategy
The Camp de Morvedre business association held a dedicated session on Nature-Based Solutions, with experts on environmental certification, carbon offsets and ecosystem restoration.
Growing wildfire risk in the Mediterranean arc and corporate ESG demands took centre stage at the latest meeting of the ASECAM Environmental Sustainability Forum, which has expanded from 15 to nearly 40 member organisations since 2019. The session focused on Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) — forest management, wetland restoration and blue carbon projects — which the European Commission defines as actions that must simultaneously deliver environmental, social and economic benefits. Javier Martínez Bausá from AMUFOR presented sustainable forest certification as a tool against wildfires, while Lourdes Martín Mangas, Sustainability Director at SGS — the global leader in testing and certification with 97,000 employees and 2,600 offices worldwide — addressed biodiversity integration into ESG strategies. The session was moderated by Inés Picazo, who leads the NbS working group at ASECAM. President Cristina Plumed closed the event by underscoring the environmental commitment of the comarca's business community. According to ASECAM.
