Sagunto Police Deploy Fire-Prevention Operation for Midsummer Night After Orange Alert

Sagunto's Municipal Police has launched a special operation along the coast on Midsummer Night following an orange-level fire-risk alert issued by the Valencian Government for the entire Valencia coastal province.

On Tuesday, the Valencian emergency coordination centre 112CV raised the pre-emergency level to orange for forest fire risk along the entire Valencia coast. Under that declaration, local councils are empowered to ban any activity generating open flames in high-value natural areas, and Sagunto activated its action plan without delay.

A command post established at Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district) beach coordinates access control and field units across the seafront. The hub also runs a dedicated drone for information broadcasting and prevention. The beaches of Almardà, Corinto and Malvarrosa have an additional dedicated drone and a mobile patrol unit.

The operation prioritises two particularly exposed sites: the Almardà wetland and the Delta del Palancia. Both areas are dominated by reed beds and salt-marsh plants that, under the combination of high temperatures and wind, become highly flammable material and raise the risk of fire spreading rapidly.

The council has called on residents to follow regulations and comply with officers' instructions throughout the night. Reporting: Sagunto City Council official website.
