Night 5K Almardà Viva race returns on 3 July along the Sagunto seafront
The second edition of the Almardà Viva Night 5K will be held on Friday 3 July at 21:00, starting and finishing at the Muntanyars avenue car park near the sea.
The Almardà Viva residents' association organises this five-kilometre coastal race in partnership with Sagunto City Council's Department of Physical Activity, Health and Sport. Registration is open until 1 July at sportmaniacs.com for €10. All finishers receive a commemorative T-shirt, a participant bag and refreshments along the route; prizes go to the top three finishers in each category. A children's race takes place before the main event. Organisers moved this year's date earlier than in 2025 to avoid disrupting the nesting season of the Kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrinus), a Mediterranean coastal bird listed as vulnerable in Spain that breeds on sandy beaches from April to August. The course is nearly identical to the first edition. Mayor Darío Moreno and Councillor Javier Timón presented the race at Sagunto City Hall this morning.
