Sagunto closes May with a packed cultural week: books, history and comedy

The final week of May in Sagunto features literary presentations, historical lectures, a theatre show and several closing exhibitions as part of the city's spring cultural programme.

Sagunto's municipal Culture department has packed the last days of May with events for all tastes. On Wednesday 27 May at 7 pm, the literary series Diàleg de Llibres hosts the presentation of «La minúscula de la història» by Valencian writer Paco Cerdà — winner of the 2025 Premio Nacional de Narrativa (Spain's top fiction award worth €20,000), though the book presented in Sagunto differs from the prize-winning title. The III Mostra Saguntum ad Mare Nostrum heritage festival rounds off its programme across three sessions: a study day on Valencian Judaism opens on Tuesday 26, an evening conference on ancient Rome follows on Friday 29, and hands-on workshops on early Mediterranean cultures fill Saturday 30. Later that Friday at 8:30 pm, the physical-comedy troupe Yllana brings «Madness» to the Casa Municipal de Cultura — a troupe born in Madrid in 1991 whose silent-comedy format has toured more than 40 countries — with tickets priced at €9. Two photography exhibitions and the collective show «Somos historia del arte» at the Mario Monreal Cultural Centre also close that weekend. According to Sagunto City Council, most events are free to attend.
