FJFS names Empar Ríos and Maria Pozuelo as Sagunto's Falleras Mayores for 2027
The Federació Junta Fallera de Sagunt (FJFS) held its official nomination ceremony on Saturday 30 May, designating Empar Ríos as adult Fallera Mayor and Maria Pozuelo as Fallera Mayor Infantil for the 2027 Fallas season.
On Saturday 30 May 2026, the Federació Junta Fallera de Sagunt (FJFS — the body that coordinates Sagunto's Fallas festival committees) held the official nomination ceremony for its Falleras Mayores for 2027, along with their respective Courts of Honour. Empar Ríos was named adult Fallera Mayor and Maria Pozuelo was designated Fallera Mayor Infantil (children's lead representative). Both will serve for approximately one year, taking part in parades, official ceremonies and the reading of the rival factions' proclamations, as tradition requires. Sagunto's Fallas festival is part of a tradition inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2016, a distinction that gives this nomination ceremony particular institutional weight. The title of Fallera Mayor has existed since 1933 in Valencia. With this ceremony, the selection process is complete and the festive cycle moves forward towards Fallas 2027. According to elperiodic.com, the event included the presentation of the Courts of Honour and was an emotional occasion for Sagunto's fallera community.
