New CEV president visits ASECAM leaders on first Sagunto stop
Vicente Lafuente, the new president of CEV (Valencian Community Business Confederation), held his first territorial visit with ASECAM representatives in Sagunto to discuss the key challenges facing businesses in the Camp de Morvedre comarca.
Vicente Lafuente took over the presidency of CEV in November 2025, succeeding Salvador Navarro who had led the regional employers' confederation since 2010. His first visit to Sagunto brought him to Hotel Barú alongside CEV secretary-general Inmaculada García, where he met ASECAM president Cristina Plumed and executives from industrial and logistics companies in the comarca.
Discussions covered the region's most pressing priorities: improving the Cantabrian-Mediterranean Corridor (a key rail freight route), attracting and retaining talent in industry and logistics, expanding vocational training places to match rising demand, and tackling housing and mobility difficulties. Energy capacity also featured prominently, with Lafuente stressing the importance of a structure providing a degree of independence given the current geopolitical climate.
Plumed stressed that the comarca is in an expansion phase that requires administrative support in infrastructure, education, and housing. CEV, founded in 1977 and affiliated with Spain's CEOE national employers' body, groups more than 580 organisations across Valencia's three provinces. According to asecam.com, the meeting strengthens the dialogue between local business and the regional confederation.
