Valencian-language school rally comes to Sagunto on Sunday 31 May
The annual Trobada d'Escoles en Valencià — a rally promoting the Valencian language in schools — will be held in Sagunto's Plaza Cronista Chabret on Sunday 31 May from 10:00.
After being postponed to support a march for public education and a teachers' indefinite strike, the Trobada d'Escoles en Valencià has set a new date: Sunday 31 May at Plaza Cronista Chabret in Sagunto. The day begins with a street parade (pasacalle) from Plaza Antiga Moreria at 10:00, with the folk dance group Grup de Danses de Morvedre performing alongside Germans Caballer as they pass the City Hall. The official welcome will be given by Mayor Darío Moreno, Education Councillor Raúl Palmero and the CEVCAM (local coordinator for Valencian-language education in Camp de Morvedre comarca). At 11:00 Canta Canalla performs in the square, and from 12:00 to 13:30 participants can join workshops at the Glorieta and Plaza Mayor. Attendees are advised to bring sunscreen, a hat and water. Escola Valenciana, a civic body founded in 1990 grouping 26 associations across the Valencian Community, organises this event through its local chapter CEVCAM. According to the Sagunto City Council, spaces have been rearranged to provide more shade.
