Consum opens its sixth store in Sagunto, reaching 540 across the Valencian Community
Spanish grocery cooperative Consum is opening a new supermarket in Sagunto tomorrow — its sixth in the town — bringing its total in the Valencian Community to 540 stores.
Consum is adding a sixth outlet to its Sagunto network, where it already operates four directly-managed stores and one franchise location. The opening strengthens the cooperative's distribution coverage across Camp de Morvedre comarca and brings new local employment. The milestone of 540 stores in the Valencian Community underlines Consum's position as a leading neighbourhood retailer in the region. Consum is a Spanish distribution cooperative founded in 1975 and headquartered in Silla, near Valencia. In 2024 it reported revenues of €4.707 billion and employs over 21,800 people, 95% of whom hold membership rights. The expansion comes as Sagunto continues to grow commercially alongside its industrial transformation driven by the upcoming PowerCo battery gigafactory. According to elperiodic.com, the new store is set to open tomorrow.
