Sagunto police locate vehicle involved in fatal hit-and-run in Puerto de Sagunto
Sagunto's Municipal Police identified the car involved in a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run on Isla Menorca street in Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district) in the early hours of 24 May; the driver later surrendered to police in Madrid.
A 35-year-old pedestrian lost his life when a car struck him and sped away without stopping on Calle Isla Menorca in Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district) in the early hours of Sunday 24 May. By 6 a.m. that morning, the Municipal Police had traced the vehicle — a black Renault Megane. The following day, Monday, the person registered as the car's owner walked into a Madrid police station of his own accord at 10 a.m. and acknowledged being behind the wheel when the collision occurred. The car was then secured at municipal premises for a joint technical examination by the National Police and the Municipal Police. Judicial proceedings are now before the Instruction and First Instance Section No. 2 in Sagunto. According to Sagunto City Hall, the investigation remains ongoing and all avenues are open.
