Sagunto’s museums open their doors for International Museum Day
On Monday 18 May, Sagunto’s museum and heritage venues opened to the public as part of International Museum Day.
The Sagunto government joined this Monday 18 May the worldwide day promoted by the International Council of Museums, keeping the various museum and heritage venues across the town accessible. The local administration used the occasion to underline the town’s character as a crossing point between civilisations throughout history: Iberian, Roman, Hebrew, Andalusian and Christian traces coexist today in a legacy enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. The councillor for Tourism and for Cultural and Industrial Heritage, Natalia Antonino, recalled the motto 'Suma de Culturas' (Sum of Cultures) as the guiding thread of cultural and tourism policy in recent years. The City Council invited residents to walk again through sites that hold the shared memory and the identity of the town. According to the council on aytosagunto.es, the day aimed to assert an open and welcoming town.
