Minute of silence in the Camp de Morvedre district: 8 pm outside town halls for the Toledo crash
Town halls across the Camp de Morvedre district will observe a minute of silence today at 8 pm for the victims of the train collision in Toledo, answering a call from the FEMP.
The town halls of the Camp de Morvedre district (the comarca around Sagunto) will pause today, Wednesday 28 October 2026, at 8 pm to remember the people killed when two high-speed trains collided that morning near Urda, in the province of Toledo. The gesture follows a call from the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), which the councils of the area are joining.
The gathering will take place outside the doors of each municipal building, as in the other Spanish towns that back the proposal. The Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP) has also asked local bodies across the Valencian Community to take part, so the minute of silence is not limited to this district.
The crash involves one Renfe train and one Iryo train running on the Madrid-Sevilla line. It has caused numerous victims and required a large emergency deployment. The source material does not say how many people have died or been injured, so no figure is given here.
The FEMP has sent its condolences to the families of those who died and thanked the rescue teams and health professionals, who are still attending the emergency. The federation has also offered to help coordinate any municipal resources needed on the ground.
For residents of the Camp de Morvedre, the practical detail is this evening at 8 pm, at the door of the town hall in each municipality. According to El Periódico de Aquí.
